The National Assembly of Wales has today voted on the Environment Wales Bill, Alice Hooker-Stroud leader of the Wales Green Party said:
“This is yet another example of why we need Green voices in the Senedd. The Environment Wales Bill is unambitious, especially when it comes to climate. We need to see strong legislation brought in that holds Welsh Government to account on climate change and not box ticking excerises. Greens in the Senedd will fight for real and meaningful environmental change that works for the people of Wales and the planet. ”
The Wales Green Party believes that we should be aiming for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 in Wales, as opposed to the 80% by 2050 as proposed in the Wales Environment Bill.
“If we are to take climate change seriously in Wales – and in the UK as a whole, we need to move targets much closer, and look to cut all our emissions. “ Alice Hooker-Stroud.
