Core Welsh industries are at risk. Port Talbot steelworks are a vital part of the Welsh economy, and the Green Party will fight for them not only on a Welsh but also on a Britain-wide basis. We are standing side by side with all workers and their families. Our experts are working hard to find intelligent solutions for the Welsh future and economy.
Lisa Rapado, candidate for the Assembly Election states:
“ My heart is with the steelworks. This desperate situation has been on the cards for a while and Welsh and Westminster Governments have been slow to read the signs. We urgently need to find a way to keep steel making a part of Port Talbot and Llanwern because Welsh steel is needed for the future renewable energy projects which will lift Wales out of dependency on polluting fossil fuels and earn an income for the next generation.
Wales makes good quality steel, and we ask that British manufacturers buy their steel close to home so that our jobs and communities can prosper as they should. We will campaign to make sure that new investors don’t profit at the expense of the workers.”
