The Wales Green Party has just announced Christopher Were as their General Election candidate for Monmouth.
The prospective Parliamentary Candidate said, “I am very thankful that the members of Wales Green Party have chosen me to represent their policies here. I am standing because I feel that mainstream British politics lacks a true progressive option for voters. I fully support the Green policies we've decided to campaign on here in Wales which include, but are certainly not limited to, addressing pay inequality between men and women, a reformed benefits system which can help people both in and out of work, a strong mandate for renewable energy and the decriminalization of cannabis.”
“We need a complete reform of our drugs legislation. Treating sufferers of addiction like criminals is not a constructive way for us to act and only ends up costing tax payer money while harming our community. Quite frankly our war on drugs is more harmful than helpful.”
Pippa Bartolotti, Wales Green Party Leader added, “I am so happy that young people like Chris are stepping forwards to represent the Greens at this General Election. Polls have consistently shown that young people will be voting Green in large numbers in 2015. This election will decide if the country prepares for a low carbon future and greater equality, or just gets stuck in the depressing loop of policies for the past.”
Christopher Were has enjoyed living in Monmouth for most of his life. He works as a freelancer design and online video consultant, working with individuals and businesses from around the world.
Wales Green Party membership has increased 121.56% since January 2014
